Welcome! and IHE profiles

Hi all!

Welcome to the OpenHIM dev list! Its great to start a bit of collaboration around the work being done the OpenHIM.

I just wanted to keep everyone updated and give you an opportunity to comment on the work to be done on the OpenHIM. Next week Hannes and myself from Jembi will be travelling to MOHAWK college near Toronto, Canada. There we are going to receive some hands on training on some IHE profiles (http://www.ihe.net/). We are planning on attending the North American Connect-a-thon in late January 2013 (http://www.ihe.net/connectathon/) where we will attempt to participate and get certified for some 2 of IHE profiles. During our time in Canada we plan to learn about the IHE profiles and utilize the expertise there to implement these profiles in OpenHIM within that week in preparation for the connect-a-thon.

The profile we are going to try implement are the PIX profile and the XDS profile. These will allow OpenHIM to communicate with a master patient index and a document repository in a more standard way. The wiki pages for these profile are below:

Cheers,

Ryan

Hi all,

I just wanted to update everyone on the progress that we have made on the IHE Profiles. As I mentioned before, we are planning to implement the XDS and PIX profiles and attend the North American Connect-a-thon in late January 2013.

Hannes and I had a great trip to Mohawk College where we were given a crash course about the IHE profiles that we were planning on implementing. We learnt that there are a number of additional profiles that act as a base for us to implement the ‘higher level’ profiles of PIX and XDS. Namely, these are CT (consistent time - syncing to a time server) and ATNA (audti trail and node authentication - dealing with auditing and security).

During our time there we managed to implement the PIX profile and made good starts on all of the other profiles so that we understood how to implement them for the connect-a-thon.

Currently, we are hard at work trying to complete the work on these profiles and are beginning a collaboration with the Regenstrief Institute to bolster our development efforts to get the software ready in time for the connect-a-thon. We have completed the CT, PIX and mostly completed the ATNA profiles. The main body for work is now in getting the XDS profile, the most complex of the bunch, up and running.

If anyone is interested in getting involved, let us know! You can follow our progress in the ‘ihe-pix-xds-profile’ branch on github https://github.com/jembi/openhim/tree/ihe-pix-xds-profile.

Cheers,

Ryan
