The Journey to Translations

Finally! As a whole community, we are overjoyed to be able to officially offer Academy courses in more languages.

We began to offer translations back in 2021 with the launch of our upgraded website. We spent additional efforts to ensure pages we’re available in languages that we’ve seen our community use (thanks to Google Analytics!) - Spanish, French, German, and Chinese.

Following this, we began to translate artifacts like the Architecture Specification, Impact Stories, and the Getting Started Guide into Spanish and French - addressing documents as we are able and by collaborating with funding partners to support translation services as individual projects, partnering with faculty from Indiana University Indianapolis, and - of course - community members have also volunteer their time for support as well!

Finally, Digital Square announced rapid project funding to support translations and shared this opportunity with OpenHIE to translate these courses. We are so grateful to Digital Square, GLOBO Translation Services, as well as community members like Dragos Dobre, Joe Amlung, and Phiona Vumbugwa for their time reviewing content.

We are looking forward to continuing our community efforts of translating content to remove barriers to resources to promote health information exchange - if you are interested in supporting these efforts - reach out to the secretariat at support@ohie.org.
