Quick thoughts on call today…

Thanks Paul for putting this thread out there. I think there is definately synergies around this. With the limited resources and time that we have (there are always just 24hours in a day) I think it would be important for us to put our efforts behind a combined approach and let it evolve from there. Jamie and John it would be great to have a very focused discussion with you both around this and see how we can (or if its possible) to pull this together for the good of all.

Hi all,

I listened with interest in the part of the conversation around “documentation” today. I for one was struggling to keep up with the different perspectives.

I think part of that might have been because different people were talking about documentation for different end goals.

The Jembi team has seemingly led the early development of an “implementation guide” which is more focused upon helping a country or stakeholder group practically implement OpenHIE and it’s related technologies:

https://wiki.ohie.org/display/SUB/OpenHIE+Implementation+Guidebook

Jamie and John at IntraHealth were working on something slightly different (and at a very early stage), which was more focused upon helping a new community member navigate the OpenHIE community, including the concepts, rationale, and how to consume the products. They called it the “OpenHIE Toolkit”:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1U4-GPPQHVjFZL3wwkrVnjDx13-3ZXQoPYQp7F32bhPs/edit?usp=sharing

In many ways, IMO, both are necessary and needed… however, the best thing would be to find a way that they can interrelate together as we build them out.

I think Carl was asking for feedback on his. I will do my part to give him that soon. I’d also like people’s inputs on the second link as well.

Thoughts?
