Good day everyone,
Sorry for posting on a weekend, but I was really hoping for some very quick pointers to important documents, as I prepare for some meetings on Monday.
I’ve been a member of the group albeit silently - but have followed some of the discussions. I must say I’m super appreciative of the extremely useful work that this community has put into advancing the state of facility registry registries. In the coming months, I hope to help colleagues in a couple of Ministries of Health benefit from this wealth of knowledge.
Currently, I’m leading a MEASURE Evaluation activity in Sierra Leone focused on supporting the National HIS Strategy and Architecture.
I will be posting more about this in coming emails, and will be introducing the Ministry team to the community in due time.
My quick question today is simply to check if https://ohie.hingx.org/1319 provides the latest version of the FRED API Specification. Is there ongoing work on a more recent version, or is this considered as very stable?
Many thanks,
Ime

Dear Ime,
I am not sure about the version for the FRED API - I’ll leave it to others to answer.
However, I wanted to point out a few other standards that may be of interest:
- Care Services Discovery: this standard from IHE allows sharing of facility data across the health information system. It is the standard identified in the OpenHIE workflow for querying health facility data:
Log In - OpenHIE Wiki
Care Services Discovery - IHE Wiki
- FHIR Location: This standard from HL7 defines the physical place where services are provided and resources (e.g. facility). It is a RESTful standard, though not used in any OpenHIE workflows
Location - FHIR v5.0.0
Cheers,
-carl

Hi Ime,
Thanks for the question. The full specification can be found here: facilityregistry.org. It has remained unchanged for the last year or so.
We would be happy to discuss in greater depth. Would you want to set up a time to discuss your work? Perhaps on our next facility registry community call?
Best,
Scott

Thanks so much for your replies, Carl and Scott.
Scott, thanks for the info. I really appreciate!
We will definitely be interested in sharing about our work in the next call, esp. if the timing is right.
Carl, thanks a lot for those pointers. Exciting to see these! They are already proving insightful for our work. I’m sure we will have plenty of discussions around this in coming weeks.
Super grateful,
Ime
