OpenHIE Demo Release and Sandbox Proposal

Hello Everyone,

We would like to announce the OpenHIE demo for public usage. This was developed as an easy way to see each of the recommended software components in action. We are hoping this will benefit anyone interested in OpenHIE to get a feel of the overall project. The demo reflects the stable components from each of the communities working together. This can now be accessed by clicking the demo link from the main website ohie.org. As this is our first release we would like to get feedback on what you would like to see improved or changed. We have also set up a support email address for the demo which can be found at the bottom of the demo.ohie.org page.

The sandbox is a separate system that is used for experimenting with each of the components of OpenHIE. This was built out of a need for Regenstrief employees wanting to play around with the components and see them in action. Over the course of the project we have created some useful artifacts such as documentation and automated install scripts. As of right now this is manually installed with deployment scripts that grab specified binaries and configure the system. In order to benefit more members of the community we would like to propose and idea to evolve the sandbox into a Continuous Integration like system. The plan would be to pull that latest code from each of sub communities’ code repository, and then build and deploy it to a clean environment. We could then add integration tests and regression tests to be run after each build. The build could take place weekly, nightly, or after every commit pushed. We would like to know if this would be valuable to the community and what other features you would like to see in a continuous integration system?

Thank You,

Ryan Yates

Hi Ryan,

This is great news, thanks for all the hard work on this.

I love the idea of a continuous integrations system for OHIE as a whole. I think the features that you have mentioned so far would be a great accomplishment.

Cheers,

Ryan
