Hi Alvin,

We do not have a location or dates yet. We just ended a process to solicit interest in hosting an OpenHIE Community Meeting for 2019 and
have received formal registrations of interest. We are now in the process of reviewing those candidates. We should have a formal announcement around the end of March. I hope this helps to know we are getting close.

Something that has been sitting with me for the last few weeks has been the idea of actually “formalizing” or “creating” a product for OpenHIE to curate. Now I’m not talking about software, but seeing a few of the other groups (internationally)
coming out with guides/frameworks etc has dropped the idea into my head of us (OHIE Architecture group) possibly publishing a formal (i.e. not just a bunch of wiki pages) OpenHIE Architecture document (PDF/Book etc). This would be the official OpenHIE architecture
version that would be the authority for countries and groups to reference and it would also give us (as well as community leads) the focus point towards to ensure we are updating workflows and narratives etc towards a release cycle for this.

I’ve added this idea to the face to face meeting agenda, but wanted to raise this here too – happy to chat about it on a call too if there is space in an upcoming call.

Cheers

@Carl do you see this as a tool/workbook that could then be added to Interoperability training sessions?

In connection with Carl’s idea – may I be so bold and suggest that OHIE might want to publish artifacts to be attached by governments to their tenders – same way IHE allows free use of the IHE profiles which become conditions in contracts –

These technical specifications are substantial obstacles to procurement – The lack thereof constrains govt to get specifications from one or two vendors and “generifying” them for competitive bidding purposes –

At some point anyway, OHIE will be a set of specs so might as well package them as possible attachments to tenders –

I think Alvin and I are on the same page here and see the same thing for what I am suggesting. We keep bumping up against the idea of “what is OpenHIE” and our response is firstly and architecture and then communities with links to reference
apps. So lets formalize it  lets publish a versioned official document that states our current architecture, the workflows, the standards and the compliance test frameworks ( – sneaking this in here for
now) that allows Governments and groups to “officially” know what the version of Ohie is at X point in time.

@Jamie: I think this could most definitely be a tool that is used in the IoP training sessions. It presenters etc could use it as “manual” for teaching topics.
