Hi Jennifer – this particular OpenHIE workflow required some important development work which Luke has captained thru the IHE ITI technical committee. The Patient Resource Identity Management (PRIM) profile is in public comment phase right now; a copy can be found here: https://www.ihe.net/uploadedFiles/Documents/ITI/IHE_ITI_Suppl_PRIM_Rev1-0_PC_2019-05-24.pdf. This new PRIM profile will, I think, become OpenHIE’s referenced spec for the FHIR version of this workflow.
As a note – there is a new work item that has just been adopted by ITI that relates to PRIM and will close some of the last remaining “patient-safety” related gaps in the present FHIR spec. This is being generally referred to as the MHD HIE work item and work on it will begin, in earnest, at the upcoming July F2F IHE meeting.
Luke – please provide corrections to any bits that I’ve got wrong or fill in important missing details that I may have missed.
Thanks and warmest regards,
Derek Ritz, P.Eng, CPHIMS-CA

Subject: Message Standards for registration
I’m looking at the OpenHIE workflows for registering patients (create patient demographic workflow). I notice that the FHIR standard is currently not listed in the OHIE workflow. Is anyone using FHIR for this? If so, do you have references to the FHIR resource / standard?
