Interoperability Layer process update

I wanted to update everyone in the Interoperability Layer community with where we are in the process we have been going through.

  • We have completed an initial draft of the requirements document that we are happy with and believe represents the communities current thinking of what a Interoperability Layer should do.
  • We have subsequent to that produced an evaluation tool and used it to review tools that we have identified as possible candidates for use as an Interoperability Layer.
  • Currently, we are writing up the options, based on these reviews, that we could follow to create an Interoperability Layer reference application and are providing a recommendation of what we believe option to create this reference application is.
The recommendation that we choose here will be the option that we will be putting effort into developing so that we can create a Interoperability Layer reference application for use with OpenHIE.

Next week, we will discuss the evaluation results on the community call and after that Jembi will send out a recommendation document that expresses our current understanding of the recommendation based on the discussion from the call and the outcomes of the evaluation tool. At this stage we would like to get feedback from the whole community to ensure everyone is in agreement with what we have portrayed.

**In the meantime I would like to ask that everyone has a look through the Interoperability Layer evaluation tool to get an understanding of what each tool’s strengths and weaknesses are so that you may provide accurate feedback to the recommendation.******The conclusions sheet (the right most tab at the bottom) of the valuation tool will likely be of most help.

Thanks,

Ryan
