Integration the component

Hi guys,

I would like to get help from you as now I am facing with the integration problem. Could you please tell me how to connect
OpenMRS, OpenEMPI to
Interoperability Layer?

Thank for your kindly help.

Best regards,

Good morning Panha

Thank you for reaching out, I’m posting your message to the OpenHIE Implementers Network (https://wiki.ohie.org/display/SUB/OpenHIE+Implementers) which I would like to personally invite you to join:
Subscribe: ohie-implementers+subscribe@googlegroups.com
Post: ohie-implementers@googlegroups.com

This network is a place where implementers and technical persons such as yourself can learn from each other and get these types of questions answered (when answers are available).

Connecting the required tools to each other (OpenMRS ↔ OpenHIM ↔ OpenEMPI) requires the configuration of the HIM to expose the OpenEMPI end points / the creation of a set of channels. I’m going to ask @Hannes and or @Ryan to help unpack this.

Connecting OpenMRS though is a question we have seen come up before in this community, as it turns out the OpenMRS link is more challenging as there isn’t a “stable” OpenMRS module for consuming the PIX/PDQ etc standards.

We’d love to understand your use-case and where you are looking to take the workflow?

Hi Sambath

I have responded to your question on countries implementing OpenHIE based solutions in another thread.

Linking OpenHIE and an EMR depends on the EMR. The general patern is that OpenHIE has a set of standard workflows (https://wiki.ohie.org/display/documents/OpenHIE+Workflows) that are available when all the components are setup and configured for your use case. That is, OpenHIE needs to be setup to support HIV or TB or Malaria, and will need some design work before you can “turn it on”. These workflows use IHE (www.ihe.net) standards to communicate and share data.

Connecting and EMR to share information with an OpenHIE implementations involves the EMR being able to communicate using the standards and the identified workflows. Technically this is done by pointing the EMR to the various “channels” on the Interoperability Layer (IOL).

Ryan is busy working with the OpenHIE DevOps community to setup a reference applicaiton and demo and we would welcome your thoughts and questions there too. Ryan and I are based in South Africa and if it would help we could have a call to better understand and help answer your question. Please let us know.
