HWR Presentation Spotlight: How Mali Predicted COIVD-19 Workforce Surges

The COVID-19 pandemic has added excess burden to health systems in low- and middle-income countries where health systems already struggle to meet staffing requirements. In late March 2020, IntraHealth worked with Ministries of Health in Kenya and Mali to combine health systems data from iHRIS, demographic, and COVID-19 data and model verification activities with World Health Organization (WHO) tools we adapted to the African context (Health Workforce Estimator and Adaptt Surge Planning Support Tool). This information was used to predict upcoming demands of COVID-19 workload surges and policy measures were then developed to meet the projected needs. This presentation will focus on our results in Bamako, Mali.
