A complete document of interfaces and data structure?

Hi there,

We are working on an HIE implementation, and considering the interfaces and data structures from interoperability layer’s perspective, as it behaves as a facade and orchestrator of whole HIE architecture. I’m wondering if there is such a document recording OHIE’s thoughts about the interface and data structure design, especially interfaces/data structures related to MPI and SHR?

Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

Unfortunately there is no single document that neatly describes all the interfaces and the thinking around them. The discussions around interfaces and the standards around them generally happen at a registry level with their communities, rather than at the interoperability layer level.

(There’s also an architecture call and mailing list that focuses on cross-cutting concerns; https://wiki.ohie.org/display/resources/OpenHIE+Architecture+Call)

In general though the thinking is around using IHE profiles.

There’s a really awesome diagram that Ryan made from the architecture mailing list that lays out the profiles:

https://groups.google.com/group/ohie-architecture/attach/981ec9b8af3e464c/OpenHIE%20Interoperability%20standards.png?part=4&view=1

The particular profiles that the SHR is looking at is XDS.b with (profiled) CDA (as well as possibly MHD).

The following document captures the thinking around SHR standards:

https://wiki.ohie.org/display/SUB/Standards+for+the+Shared+Health+Record

Cheers

Hannes

Thanks for picking this up Hannes.

I have created a wiki page to help capture a general architecture and profiles planned to be used. @Jeff, if you could let us know what else you would like to see there we could look at including additional information. Right now it in very basic and just includes the image that I created that Hannes linked to.

Cheers,

Ryan
