WHO Guideline on Establishing a Master Facility List...

I wasn’t sure if people have seen this document or not?

http://hingx.org/1289

http://www.who.int/healthinfo/systems/WHO_CreatingMFL_draft.pdf

This is actually a pretty decent reflection of what I’ve seen through in Tanzania… yet we didn’t have access to this document as it happened.

I wonder if we should partner up with the WHO to give our thoughts/feedback and perhaps we adopt this for future countries?

It’s actually pretty good work, IMO.

Hi All,

I was one the contributor’s to this document and have been wanting to see it been used. I would be happy to faciliate further interactions with WHO on this and I think the key people at WHO would like this. The activity has not progressed quickly since this draft was released so any input might help move the process along. If you or anyone want further details I would happy to provide them.

Andrew, the good news is: the process described in the document tightly reflects what happened in TZ to date, which is both a good validation of what was written and perhaps serves as a demonstration of what might be necessary to translate this document into broader use.

I’d love the space to talk about this in an upcoming fac reg community call, if there was the time for it.

Perhaps we could discuss the WHO document in a facility registry call in April?

Best,

Hi Kelly

I did send a link to an early draft of this document back last year to this list. Agree that it would be appropriate to engineer alignment with the effort. I believe Jason Pickering, who is also on this list, has also made some contribution to the WHO document. I guess ideally we want to reach a point where the FRED api is seen as a technical implementation of the broader WHO process.

In fact a good outcome might well be that our work is simply incorporated as part of the WHO recommendation. This would help (i) to make the more WHO recommendation more easily technically implementable (ii) breathe some valuable community participation into that process and (iii) provide more visibility and credibility to our efforts.

Either way - stronger or weaker coupling - I agree it would be useful to discuss, perhaps in April.

HI All,

Yes Jason Pickering was involved, I would say was a major contributor/author to this document and it would be good to get his take on this. I believe it would be good to see how we can align these activities.

I would be happy to discuss this document on the April call, however, i will be in Ghana from the March the 30th to 12th April. I am uncertain exactly when the April call would be? I don’t want stop this discussion from happening either Jason or we could have another one of the contributors join the call, I am happy to make the connection.
