OHIE Connectathon?

Hi All,

It was communicated on the
September 8th Architecture & Standards call that the group wanted to have an “OHIE connectathon” before the IHE NA Connectathon on January 26-30th
in Cleveland, Ohio. The thought was the connectathon would be used to test communications and interactions. I would like to get feedback from the group around holding a connectathon in January 2015. Below are some questions to get us started.

Are there objectives for this event above testing communications and interactions?

Where should we host this event? Remotely, at Regenstrief (Indianapolis), Cleveland or somewhere else?

Please respond to all on this email so we can have an open discussion around this.

Hi,

I think that a pre connectathon meeting would be a very good idea.

  1. It will help us to pre-test our interoperability, and fix any issues that would (no doubt) exist

  2. it will help bring people fro different communities onto the same page, and make sure we all have a (better) idea of what we’re doing

Hi Shaun

I’d have to gauge people’s priorities and schedules from the dhis2 side, but I sense that if we were to participate then remotely will be most likely. Unless of course Jim is in the vicinity and on the loose …

Hi,

From our side it would be helpful to clarify what all is required for the connect-a-thon this time. For instance what is being tested? Per each set of tests, which participants will need to be present and what should they prepare? This hasn’t been particularly clear to date, at least on my end. For instance, we had not been planning to attend this year as the need hadn’t been articulated to date. Also, we should be careful that this doesn’t hijack communities roadmaps that have already been defined. This was a particular challenge last year.

In terms of how best to prepare for what will be tested at the connect-a-thon, pre-testing was an important step last year. That way, it isn’t too chaotic at the eventual event.

Another question to consider, has remote connect-a-thon testing been approved by IHE this year? I know it was an ongoing convo with Lynn, but I hadn’t heard the outcome.

Best,

Scott

I find myself empathizing a lot with Scott's statement below

For instance, we had *not been planning to attend *this year as the need
hadn't been articulated to date. Also, we should be careful that this
doesn't hijack communities roadmaps that have already been defined.

I would like to resurrect the conversation below around the IHE NA connectathon and the possibility of an OHIE pre-connectathon event.

As Scott stated below there is a desire to know what our plan is for the 2015 IHE NA connectathon. So let’s start considering these questions;

·
What is being tested?

·
Who should participate in the event?

·
How should participants prepare?

·
Has IHE approved remote connectathon testing?

Thank you,

Hi All,

I think this is a great idea and if representatives are already traveling to Cleveland it might be easy to tack on a couple of days prior to do some testing onsite. before the event (even the weekend before). Thought I’d take a stab at answering some of the questions asked:

  1. What is being tested?

I have attached a list of profiles for which OpenHIE has registered for in the Gazelle NA connect-a-thon, this may have changed since this registration represents the OpenHIE community as a whole being tested and as far as I understand each component will now be tested individually (i.e. this list represents the total scope of OpenHIE and not any one particular component, however it is not too difficult to discern what each component should do). Each one of these profiles has a specific list of test cases accessible in Gazelle which clearly, and unambiguously let developers know what the connect-a-thon monitors will be looking for to mark a test as “passed”.

  1. Who should participate in the event?

Typically with a connect-a-thon it is technical staff that know how to fix software that should be involved. I believe if each component is being registered separately then a representative of the each component (or delegate) should be present.

  1. How Should Participants Prepare?

On Gazelle there are a list of pre-connect-a-thon tests which, like the connect-a-thon tests, clearly identify what needs to be tested and how. If we were to have a pre-connect-a-thon test (which I think is a good idea) then IMO this should be the list that we follow.

  1. Has IHE approved remote connectathon testing?

As far as I know, the answer is no.

Cheers

-Justin
