Hi all

Sorry I missed the call yesterday. I was hoping to make it but for
some reason thought it was to be yesterday morning rather than
afternoon.

Regarding the proposed workshop in Rwanda, is it planned to be a 1 or
2 day thing? I am planning to be in Rwanda between 8th-18th March.
It might be possible to change my flights to come later and try and
fit this in.

Regards
Bob

Dear Bob,

We discussed the Rwanda meetup at length, but given the short time frame and the lack of availability of personnel to get the logistics rolling asap, we decided that it would be more realistic to target a stakeholder meetup in May. If you know of any other meetups in that timeframe that we could leverage, we’re open to suggestions for venues.

We might still be able to put together a smaller geek meet so that we have something to showcase for a larger stakeholder meeting in May, but nothing’s been finalized.

Stay tuned,

Rowena

Thank you so much for generating the notes and sending out the recording – super helpful for those of us who could not attend! I am sorry I could not be on the call.

The technical discussion was very helpful and I am excited to see how the work on the APIs evolves.

As I listened to the recording of the conversation, the following questions came to mind:

A.
Do we have a collection of high level use cases for the Facility Service Registry Service somewhere? I saw some of the RHEA facility use cases listed somewhere, but from what I remember, it was more
about the creation and update/maintenance of facility records. Having a good set of such use cases, I believe, would be very helpful as we approach government agencies, NGOs as well as donors/funders. Some examples of such use cases might be (a few of these
mentioned on the call):

·
Ministry dashboards

·
Support of various campaigns

·
NGO M&E reporting & analysis (the mention of NetHope members assisting in keeping the registry up to date was mentioned on the call – I believe they would be able to benefit & contribute in additional
ways)

·
Field & Community Health Worker tools correctly referencing the facilities in the health delivery system

·
Ensuring uniformity in data collection efforts by NGOs and other agencies

·
Use of same system for use beyond healthcare/MoH – e.g. planning ministries, education, agriculture

·
Etc.

B.
I believe Mike Gehron sees merit in incorporating the API work into the draft interoperability framework specification we published on HUB. I would be happy to get the Mohawk folks involved shortly
to see how we best collaborate here.

C.
We all agree that country selection and identification of the right individuals (beyond Rwanda) in Kenya & Tanzania (Uganda, and other “right” countries) is something that should happen in the short
term. We should compile these contact names and outline a communications plan on how to keep these people involved. I can get that started and I’ll reach out to Paul, Matt & others to generate the list.

D.
Having the use cases mentioned above, would help recruit the right contacts in selected countries. Additionally, it would be important to have discussion with representatives from national agencies:
their unique Hierarchy structures and how local implementations of what you called the “Classifier Dictionary” can be accommodated.

E.
I enjoyed the discussion on the core service vs. clients for visualization client e.g. Resource Mapper. As I was listening, Open Data initiatives and local innovation came to mind. Such opportunities
for plugging in local innovators and commercial interests involved (e.g. Oracle, Deloitte, ESRI. …Microsoft was mentioned in the Haiti context) should be discussed.

F.
Understand the workshop is now targeted for May (for selfish reasons, this is good news
J ) and would be happy to work with mHealth Alliance and everyone to help make that a success! Preparation for this and the event itself could be a great forcing function
for making progress at many levels!

Thanks again for great notes and the recording. I am looking forward to getting deeper engaged here!

All the best,

Fredrik
