Hi all.

Thanks and congratulations to Carl Leitner for shepherding the CSD profile through its final IHE technical committee meeting, culminating in a vote by the committee to release the profile for trial implementation.

This is a really big step for IHE and for those of us participating in OpenHIE communities that are leveraging or plan to leverage IHE specifications. For the first time, a profile development effort focused on use cases from low resource settings has successfully gone through the IHE process.

Nicely done, Carl, and thanks to all the OpenHIE community members who participated over the last weeks and months in developing this specification!

Can I add my deep appreciation for the effort it took to get this profile developed and through the IHE review….absolutely outstanding work! While there were
many busy hands in this, particular congratulations to Carl and Derek for all your efforts here.

Speaking of putting the CSD profile into practice, what does “released to IHE Trial Implementation” mean? Our HIE (Redwood MedNet) has access to some grant funds. Can we propose a trial implementation of the CSD profile? Are there additional costs associated with a “IHE Trial Implementation”?

There are no additional costs associated with IHE trial implementation. All of their materials are open.

We prototyped and early version of CSD. There may be some useful information here:

Importantly, an IHE Profile that is released for Trial Implementation is eligible to be tested in Connectathons. This provides vendors/implementers with a way to evolve the profile towards eventual adoption within the IHE technical framework and, also, to earn the ability to make interoperability statements based on successful Connectathon participation.

I am very pleased to learn that you may be interested in pursuing an evaluation of CSD.
